Our Twitter bro @red__hat, who hails from the land of Sam Adams, sent in this SUPER crane kick live and direct from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis right before he went in to watch his beloved Patriots take on the Giants of New Jersey and also New York. Sadly for this bean loving leg lifter, this photo op was about as good as it would get, considering his team was defeated by the underdog Giants in the Super Bowl once again. Nice catch, Welker. Gisele's right you know. Tom can't do everything. It isn't Looney Tunes, it's real life out there. But really thanks for dropping that one you helped me win my pool.

Postscript: Am I allowed to call it the Super Bowl? Or do I have to call it The Big Game? How about The Big Bowl of Super? I like that one. Don't want to get sued over here. We have a tight budget.

The dudes @McCraic and @bsmcmahon sent over this balancing act via Twitter last week and I forgot to post it. Looks like a good time down the shore. A little drinking. A little craning. A little craning while drinking. A little craning on the drink itself - in flipflops, no less.

When I saw this, I thought to myself "this should be a drinking game... call it The Standoff."

Rules:

The 2011 CKC College Football Tour kicks off with this 24-karat (get it? lolol.) craning from Twitter celebrity @phillykelly. Now, even though Notre Dame stinks at football and the Rudy movie was half made up and Lou Holtz spits all over when he talks and Charlie Weis wears pants that are really a car cover and Rocket Ismail... wait Rocket Ismail rules... anyway this is a special craner because I for one love the pageantry and tradition of college football and you will be hard pressed to find a place with as rich of a history as Notre Dame.

With that said, Go Michigan.

Oh also this craning is great because there were reportedly 25-30 people waiting to have their photo taken in front of the Golden Dome and PK was totally embarrassed but stuck it out and had her mom take the picture for almost a minute. Awkward!

Dear Crane Kick Chronicles,

I was pointed to your site over a year ago [THE HELL TOOK YOU SO LONG?] by a fella who claimed to know you. He goes by the name [WUT?] on FanNation.com. I think his real name is [ME] and he is the tits. Give him credit because he gave a good name to Philly sports fans [THROWS BATTERY] by being a hilarious jackass [SO TRUE I AM].

Anyway, I found the concept to be really funny [DUH WHO DOESN'T?], so this summer when I went on a 2 month European backpacking adventure [HOPE MICHELLE TRACHTENBERG WAS THERE TOO], I brought the crane kick with me. Here are a couple gems from the Prado [THEY MAKE GREAT SCARVES] in Madrid, the Hungarian [I'M HUNGRY] Parliament building in Budapest, and the Coliseum [THE GOD'S FAVOR YOU].

CKC also inspired me and my compadre to see what other poses [HEISMAN? STATUE OF LIBERTY? DOWNWARD DOG???] we could strike for our photos along the way. I tend to be less than photogenic [OH STOP FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS] as it is, so I figured why not give it 110%?

Have visited your site numerous times, since i started frequenting sites like ZWR and the fightins, because of my love of Phillies Baseball.....
I am from the Netherlands, love to travel, and this year went to Peru, mainly cause my wife just HAD to see Machu Picchu.... While you are there, you just do one photo shoot after another, be it scenery, people, or the two combined. At the end of the day, at our 100th shoot, i got a bit tired of posing for the umpthieth time, and in my mind, the first thing i could do to make another pic more fun was cranekick!! I had your site in mind, i must admit, so basically you inspired me!

I loved doing it, it was a truly fun way to pose for a pic! Everybody complimented me on my original pose, i hereby forward the compliment to you!

A little background here:

Utah Jazz/Butler Bulldogs hoopster Gordon Hayward posted from his Twitter account that he was taking planking to the next level and announced he was going to start #CRANING. As craning is already an international sport recognized by all federations sans the Olympics and FIFA (for now), loyal CKC fans went on the offensive and bombarded me with news of Gordon's exploits. I sent Gordon a quick message and he followed up with some craner bro love and the rest is history and we're bff.

Seriously. This is what I came home to on Sunday. NBA player being accused of grand theft crane. God Bless America.

Anyway, the dude above is Jacob and he sent this incredible craner over to Gordon at some point during the weekend. I think it's my new favorite.

CKC pal @mleif attended the "Phillies Phestival" yesterday. This is a great meet and greet event in which fans get to interact with Phillies players and brass, with proceeds going to striking out ALS.

So this is obviously the place for the following to unfold:

As for the crane kick, I went back at 8pm, after the booths closed down and everyone stopped signing. L.A. was sitting there with Sarge, talking shit on everyone that walked by, including asking one person if the cookies they gave him "had something else in them". At that point, he looked over and I asked if he knew what a crane kick was. He said no, and asked me to show him how to do it. I assumed the position, and he started cracking up, going "Like that Ralph...Ralph...whatshisname?" "Macchio" "Yeah, that's it!"

He asked me why I would want a picture like this, so I explained the site. Hopefully, he looks it up. So then he stands up, with about fifteen people around us in hysterics, and asks how to do it again. I show him, and he was hesitant at first, asking if I was going to kick him while he was doing it. I said no, he struck the pose and said, "This has to be the stupidest thing I've ever done in my life". I started laughing at that, which explains the blurriness of the picture. Or maybe Larry Andersen is just blurry in real life.

Anyhoo here's a craner from @soundofphilly out in High Desert, Cali with the mascot of the Single-A baseball Mavericks. His name is Wooly Bully. Wait - Wooly Bully?! Hey now watch it man watch it watch it.

Great blog. Here is a picture of my sister, Barrie, practicing her crane kick in Southwest Harbor, Maine, in August, 2009. She was hesitant about practicing the kick on the edge of the rocks but I explained to her that proper balance is critical in case she is ever bullied by a band of mean finance professionals with headbands on 5th Avenue.

Long story short:

Logan Morrison is a baseball player and a Twitter phenom who is like totally BFF with Philly fans even though he plays for the Marlins but he is always doing stuff like going to Flyers games and wearing Zoo With Roy Sharktits t-shirts and will probably draft Michael Vick for his Fantasy Football QB and then complain about Andy Reid's Red Zone offense but yeah so anyway he's a good dude who ignored many requests for a crane kick but then he blew a tire and was all "OMG I need a cast I'm on the DL bro hey Keith Olbermann wanna fight?" and sent him this picture but the seed for a craner on crutches was planted way before that not to mention the loyal followers of CKC spotted this and brought it to my attention because we're tight like that....

This right here is a CKC tribute to the greatest rock 'n' roll band that ever did live. CKC was feelin' free as a bird as it traveled across the universe to sweet sweet Paris, France and found a crosswalk we could not resist. It was almost as if the sun king had dropped down and we both had come together for this magic moment that the two of us could experience as one. Obviously, what goes on here is nowhere near the magical mystery tour that occurred while those four blokes were crossin' that famous road, oddly enough none of them wearin' an old brown shoe. But, ya wanna know a secret? CKC had zero thoughts of her majesty or some octopus's garden when this shot was taken, shoot, we don't even like seafood. The only thoughts in our minds at this particular time were getting away from that fool on the hill and meeting up with long tall sally and lovely rita for a serious ménage. You see, if you're not familiar with the phenomenon that is ZWR (wait what? you should know it by now), it goes a little something like this - Roy Halladay rules. ZWR wants to go to the zoo with him. ZWR draws sick art of the two of them spending time at the zoo. When not at the zoo, Roy Halladay is cuttering the hell out of people on the baseball diamond. ZWR draws those too. In any case, Wanda took the boys out a while back to see How to Train Your Dragon. Now, when I see the words "train" and "Dragon" in the same title, I'm thinking kung fu flick. And apparently so were the boys, who held this crane kick in for two hours while watching a 3-D cartoon. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they enjoyed the movie. But by the looks on those faces, I think it's safe to say this was the highlight of the evening.

He was lucky enough to catch some Big 5 hoops action at the storied Palestra over the weekend, and brought his crane kick along to help guide the Temple Owls over the St. Joe's Hawks. This may not seem like a big deal at first glance, but know that the Hawks took the favored Owls into overtime on this day, only to be foiled by some poor shooting and a craning from the upper deck.

The Palestra hosted its first basketball game in 1927 and has been the scene of some of the finest battles in college hoops history, however none including the type of athleticism you see above. Take a bow, Estebomb, you craned a legend.

Would ya get a load of this. We are tearing up over here just looking at this majestic scene. Here we are in Park City, Utah with two of our ski friends who could very well be training for the Downhill in Sochi, 2014. That's in Russia people, invest in a globe for cryin out loud. This is definitely one of our most daring craners to date. No chance you'd see CKC postin' up on the side of a mountain like this, ballsy bro, ballsy. Especially with your friend gaining ground right behind you, check out that form. She wants her 2 dollars Lane Meyer!* And those trees! Those GD happy trees! Bob Ross is smiling from above at this work of art.** Between the form our friends are displaying and the scenery that couldn't be painted any better, this craner really strikes a chord with us. And what better timing with all of the snow hitting the country and the Olympics taking place. U-S-A, U-S-A!! Our only gripe...we know you were there during Sundance, so where the heck is our Saget craner. We love Full House.

The whole single mom thing isn’t easy when it comes to a 13yo boy. After realizing Ike wasn’t necessarily responding to my meager and boring attempts at conversation, communication and plaintive requests, I realized that the crane kick pose was the perfect answer. What 13 yo boy wouldn’t understand that his mother means business, when she gets ready to crane kick his butt? Here, I’m asking Ike to help clean the kitchen and he lovingly helped with no argument! Thanks Crane Kick Chronicles for giving me what all the parenting books had left out.

Yep, we did it again. Parenting tools brought to you by the crane kick. Look at that kid's face... I bet you could eat soup off of that kitchen table after he got done cleaning it on this night. This isn't a joke people. This is real life.

This lovely craner came along with the following:

I was at home suffering from cabin fever, a photography addiction, adult ADHD; and possibly feeling a bit empathetic towards special 'Twitter friend' that mentioned he had to go into work the next morning (despite the unrelenting Blizzard warnings we received throughout the Tri-State Area.)

Around 7pm, I threw on a few layers of clothing, boots, gloves, and a skull cap...Grabbed my camera & gear (including my tripod)...And here is what happened:

COMMANDER CODY

We've had a few dogs grace the pages of Crane Kick Chronicles over time, but they've either been the victim of a craning, or in the background of a photo watching someone get craned. Never have we had a dog, or an animal at all for that matter, as the actual craner. That all changed with Cody.

Fresh off making some yellow snow and tricking the neighborhood kids into thinking there was a wolf cub on the loose, Cody was introduced to the crane kick. Since he's still young, Cody needed a spotter... but once he was up in action, The Commander was born. He even threw in a little snarl for good measure. Good dog.

Cody is an Alaskan Malamute pup that belongs to our pal Kevin Owens, who is a professional basketball player and the man responsible for the blog Waiting to Godunk.

SNOW BUNNY

On February 6th, 2010, the skies opened up and dropped 30 inches of snow on the Philadelphia area. Some people baked cookies. Some (us) got drunk and did snow angels in nothing but thermal underwear. Others took to the streets in search of a snowball fight.

The lady you see above is Sarah Baicker. Despite a full days effort of instigating with innocent bystanders and local news cast cameos, she could not find a dance partner to fling some packed powder with. She was sad.

But then ole Baicks remembered that a crane kick in the snow was not only more fun then getting hit in the face with ice, it also made for a pretty portrait. Once she managed to get her right foot out of all that snow, she was happy again. Those are the eyes of a smiling face, to be sure.

There was a nice treat waiting in the CKC inbox the other day. The lovely and extraordinarily talented Esthero stumbled upon the Crane Kick Chronicles and was kind enough to share some rather flattering words (she said we were fantastic). She also gave us a heads up on a sweet ass space suit craner from her video for the song That Girl - check out the 2:45 mark to see her in action.

Now, if you don't know who Esthero is, you need to step your game up. Here are a few quick bullet points to help you get with the times:

If you play her song Superheroes when you have a date over, you will get some booty

Matthew Inman is kind of a genius. Among other things, he runs the show over at The Oatmeal. If you haven't visited that website yet, do yourself a favor and go check it out. It's awesome.

I sent Matthew a message on Twitter asking him to draw a crane kick for me to post on Crane Kick Chronicles. Matthew did me one better and sent over a panel from an unreleased comic in his book. After taking a look at said crane kick above, I bought his book. It's only ten dollars. Take a day off from Starbucks, go right here and pick that thing up. And if you want, take a picture of yourself crane kicking it and it will get posted.
